Detailed 3-Day Gombe Stream Chimpanzee Trek from Arusha Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Gombe Stream National Park
From Arusha, you will take a domestic flight to Kigoma airfield, the gateway to Gombe National Park in West Tanzania.
On arrival, your tour guide driver will pick you up, and time permitting, you can take a detour to Dr. David Livingstone Memorial Center.
You will drive to the port (Kibirizi) and take your boat ride (2 hours) to Gombe Stream National Park.
Have your lunch after checking in at the banda/lodge.
Take a leisurely hike in the late afternoon, then return for dinner and an overnight at the banda/lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Gombe Stream National Park
Today, you will trek the eastern chimpanzees of Gombe Stream National Park.
After your breakfast, you will be driven to the park’s headquarters for a briefing about the chimpanzee trekking experience and then enter the tropical forest of Gombe in search of the chimpanzees.
Other activities today would include a visit to the park’s famous Kakombe Falls and a climb to Jane’s Peak.
Later in the day, spend some relaxing time at the beach.
Day 3: End of Safari
You will take a boat transfer back to Kigoma from where you will take your domestic flight back to Arusha.
In the morning of day 3, you could take on a morning hike in the forest before leaving the park.
