Trekkers Tavern Cottages is an Eco-friendly lodge situated in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, just 2 kilometers from the park headquarters on top of a hill overlooking the ancient Bwindi forest.

On a clear day, you can also have panoramic views of the Virunga volcanoes.

Accommodation at Trekkers Tavern is provided in 5 spacious, well-furnished cottages with en-suite bathrooms and flush toilets.

Each room has a private veranda commanding spectacular views of Bwindi and offering opportunities to spot many birds.

The dining at Trekkers Tavern serves very delicious meals prepared by well-experienced chefs.

Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park Uganda

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the main activity, especially budget gorilla trekking tours.

The gorilla families you can trek in the Buhoma sector include Mubare gorilla family, which was the first habituated gorilla family in Bwindi, Habinyanja gorilla family, and Rushegura gorilla family.

Gorilla trekking normally takes between 30 minutes to 7 hours, depending on the phase of hikers and the location of the gorilla family.

Children under the age of 15 years will not be allowed to trek gorillas.

Uganda gorilla permits cost $700 per person.

How to Get There

Trekkers Tavern Cottages can be reached from Kampala, which is 462 kilometers away, approximately a 9-hour drive.

It is also a 2-hour drive from the Buhoma sector of Bwindi.

Standard chartered flights can be taken from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield to Kihihi airstrip.
