Travellers Rest Hotel is located in Kisoro district in southwestern Uganda.
This hotel is one of the oldest in the country, built in 1950, and it’s an ideal place for budget travelers who are trekking gorillas in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

The lodge was constructed by Walter Baumgartel, one of the gorilla enthusiasts, and was taken over by the Ugandan government during Amin’s regime but was later restored.
Kisoro Travellers Rest Hotel also offers spectacular views of the famous Virunga volcanoes, which are home to the endangered mountain gorillas.
Kisoro Travellers Rest doesn’t just provide accommodation; there are also other activities you can engage in during your stay at the lodge, such as biking tours, community walks, mountain hiking tours, nature-guided walks, and more.
Kisoro Travellers Rest Hotel is currently managed by Nature Lodges Uganda and offers accommodation in 10 rooms: 8 standard rooms and 2 suites.
All rooms have access to warm running water and comfortable beds for your stay.
Every evening, there is a campfire where you can relax and discuss how your day went.
