Silverback Lodge was handcrafted using local materials sourced from within and some of these include forest vines, purple slate stone and sisal ropes. The lodge is situated in the closest sector of Bwindi from Kampala. It’s also the first sector of park that received tourists in 1993.
Silverback Lodge offers accommodation in 12 spacious standard rooms; 1 single room, 4 double rooms and 7 twin rooms. All the rooms have en-suite bathrooms with hot running water and private verandas commanding spectacular views of the surrounding valley.
What to do at Silverback Lodge

Mountain gorilla trekking. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi is the primary safari activity in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Gorilla trekking normally starts early morning after a briefing and takes between 2 hours to 7 hours.
Kids under the age of 15 years and adults with infectious diseases will not be allowed to trek mountain gorillas. The cost of gorilla trekking permits in Bwindi is $700 per person. Permits should be booked in advance of 3 months especially when travelling in the peak season.
Gorilla habituation. Gorilla habituation can be described as the process of making Mountain gorillas get used to human presence. This normally takes a period of 2-3 years until gorillas pass a mocking exercise before they are availed for gorilla trekking.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the only gorilla park that offers gorilla habituation in the whole world. The cost of gorilla habituation permits is $1500 per person. You get to spend 4 hours with mountain gorillas unlike the usual 1 hour of trekking.

How to get there
Silverback Lodge can be reached in a full day’s drive from Kampala or via Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. You can also use a standard chartered flight from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield to Kihihi Airstrip and take a 30 minutes drive to the lodge.
About Buhoma Sector of Bwindi
Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park harbors the first habituated gorilla family in Uganda; habituated in 1991 and received its first visitors in 1993.
The sector is home to Mubare gorilla family, apparently the oldest habituated family in Bwindi, Habinyanja gorilla family and Rushegura gorilla family among the rest.
