The beautiful Jacana safari lodge is situated at the edge of the largest a Crater Lake in the stunning Queen Elizabeth national park in western Uganda. The lodge is surely one of the unique luxury lodges in the country set to meet traveller’s needs and what you expect.
The lodge was uniquely constructed using local materials with modern architecture like wood, ropes, roc poles which blends with the natural surroundings of tropical hardwood forest and the Lake. The lodge is a fusion of traditional materials and modernity.
The lodge is composed of 10 luxury chalets nestled at the heart of maramagambo forest with each room having large windows to give a better view of the Lake, each room has a bell you can ring and someone will come at your service. Jacana safari lodge is part of Geolodges in Uganda that has other lodges like Nile safari lodge in Murchison falls and Rain forest lodge in Mabira forest.
The spacious family cottage contains 2 joined rooms with both well furnished with en suite bathrooms with cold and hot running water, private verandas overlooking Lake Nyamunsingire
Meals at Jacana safari lodge are extra ordinary with a wide choice of local and international cuisine you can have your meals at the main dining or at Captains table (a floating pontoon) at the Lake. The sun downer bar hangs over Lake Nyamusingire. You can also organise with the lodge for kayaking on the Lake. The dining and bar also offer spectacular views of the Lake.
The main lounge at the lodge features a fire place, luxurious Persian rugs, hummocks, comfortable sofas. The swimming pool also provides spectacular views of the Lake coupled with a sauna and massage to give you a perfect relaxation after a long day.
Activities
Forest walks
Forest walks can be organised to Maramagambo forest, the word maramagambo refers to a local word to mean “end of words”. It was derived by a team of young people who went into the forest and failed to trace their way back to the village for a long time and after they finally reached the village they couldn’t speak for long because they were tired and exhausted hence the forest came to be known as Maramagambo. The walks can take 1hour to half day and its home to primates like black and white colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, L’Hoest monkeys, red tailed monkeys and Olive baboons among the rest.
Kayaking on the lake
One of the best ways to have fun is by Kayaking on Lake Nyaminsigire, the Lake is the largest Crater Lake in Uganda and it also attracts wildlife especially during afternoon hours and various water birds to be seen as you enjoy its flora and fauna.
Game drives
Game drives can be done from various sections of Queen Elizabeth national park, the common wildlife include; Ugandan kob, elephants, warthogs, antelopes, bush bucks and you can also visit Ishasha sector to see the tree climbing lions. The best time for game drives is early morning or late afternoon.
