Queen Elizabeth national park is located in the western part of Uganda home to 95 species of mammals, 615 species of birds, 5 levels of vegetation commonly seen out of the 57 include; forest grassland, swamp vegetation, bushy grassland, acacia woodland and Lakeshore.
Queen Elizabeth national park covers an area of 1,978 kilometres squared comprised of very rich bio diversity compared to any other national park in Africa. The park is the most visited national park in Uganda and has got a lot to offer.
Hippo safari lodge
Hippo safari lodge is situated on a quant hill in Mweya region of the famous Queen Elizabeth national park overlooking Kitako and Kabazimu islands of Lake Edward. The lodge is an ideal place for those looking at having a real wilderness experience.

Bird watching
Queen Elizabeth national park is a birders paradise with over 600 species of birds recorded some of which are endemic to this area, the common species of birds found in the park are; lesser and greater flamingos, Martial eagle, King fisher, open billed stork, long tailed cormorants, squaco heron, African emerald cuckoo, hairy breasted barbet, speckled tinker bird, grey wood pecker, papyrus canary, verreauxs eagle owl and green hylia among the rest.
Wild life viewing
Queen Elizabeth national park is home to many species of wildlife that can be explored on a game drive or balloon safari, some of the wildlife you will spot include; elephants, buffalos, warthogs, bush bucks, topis, water bucks, hyenas and the tree climbing lions at Ishasha sector of the park. The best time for doing a game is in the morning and afternoon hours.
How to get there
Hippo safari lodge can be reached within 6-8 hours from Kampala, 6 hours from Bwindi impenetrable forest national park, 4 hours drive from Lake Mburo, 4-6 hours drive from Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park. You can also use a standard chartered flight from Entebbe international airport or Kajjansi airfield and then drive to the lodge.
