The splendid Tshiabati waterfalls are situated in Kauzi beiga national park in Democratic Republic of Congo. Kauzi Beiga national park is home to eastern lowland gorillas only found in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The waterfall trail entrance is about 45 minutes from the briefing point, you can ride to the starting point with a ranger guide who is very knowledgeable about the waterfalls and the entire park.

Lowland gorilla trekking
There are two habituated eastern lowland gorilla families you can trek while at the park, Kauzi beiga national park boasts with the highest number of eastern lowland gorillas. One should book their eastern lowland gorilla permit in advance before arrival to the park.
Birding
Kauzi beiga national park is home to 321 species of birds recorded and you will surely spot several of these birds during your hike to the waterfalls. Some of the examples of birds are; Congo peafowl, African green broadbill, yellow created helmet shrike, Rockefellers sunbird, Grauer’s warbler and many others
Volcanic hiking
There are main two extinct volcanoes fund within the park, therefore you can choose to hike either mount Kauzi or Mount Beiga. The top of both mountains provides spectacular views and the entire beauty of farmlands and the park below.
Nature guided walks
There are a number of trails established within the park leading to beautiful destinations, you can take a nature walk and come across lots of wildlife and bird species including gorillas if your lucky enough. The nature walks last from 30 minutesĀ to several hours depending on the trail you choose.
Tourists planning to hike the might Tshiabati waterfalls should call and inquire in advance as the trails are not always open. Visitors mustĀ also pack hiking equipment like water proof hiking boots, rain coats, jackets, warm long sleeved clothes, insect repellent, sun screen, sun glasses, a hat and maybe packed lunch if you would like to eat from within the waterfalls.
