Oruzogo Gorilla Group Silverback Name, Members & Location

the largest living apes in the group of primates inhabiting the tropical rainforests of central and west Africa inhabiting Mgahinga and Bwindi impenetrable forest national park in Uganda, Virunga national park in Democratic Republic of Congo and Volcanoes national park in Rwanda.

Some mountain gorilla families have been habituated and can be visited all year round by tourists who would like to have an encounter with human close relatives. The Oruzogo mountain gorilla family is one of the habituated families you can visit at Bwindi national park in Uganda.

The Oruzogo mountain gorilla family can be trekked from Ruhijja sector of Bwindi impenetrable forest national park, the family is made up of 23 individuals dominated by the silverback Tibirkwata and was first trekked by tourists in 2011.

The Oruzogo mountain gorilla family is one of the exciting groups you can trek in Bwindi because there are a lot of playful infants you can enjoy watching, its also one of the gorilla families gifted with twins birthed by the Kakobe in march 2012.

Oruzogo mountain gorilla family derives its name from a local plant known as “Oruzogoto” which is common in their home range. The habituation of this gorilla family started in 2008.
