15 Days Gorilla Trekking Special & Wildebeest Migration Safari

Detailed 15-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1:  Arrive in Entebbe and short visit to Uganda Wildlife Education Center

On this first day of your Uganda safaris section of the trip, Take a short visit on your arrival at the Uganda Wildlife educations centre where you will encounter different wildlife held captive. Some of these animals are chimpanzees, giraffes, lions, crocodiles, buffalos, rhinos, baboons, elephants, and many others. After a short tour, you will head to the hotel for your accommodation.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park and Isunga community experience with Isunga cultural community Association/tours

Head to Kibale national park a notable protected area located in the western part of Uganda covering an area of 750 square kilometers. The journey to this park is amazing since you pass through the craters, Tea and banana plantation, forests and many more. After a 5 to 6 hours’ drive, reach Kibale and be served lunch. Immediately, meet the local guide from Isunga community tours who will take you through a great experience of walking in the coffee farms and tea plantations. The experience will end after enjoying the homemade Coffee proceeds and taking a cup of coffee at one of the homes or at the office. Check in the lodge for your accommodations.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and hike to the top of the world

Head to the Kanyanchu visitors center where a briefing takes place about chimpanzee trekking. The briefing is important in a way that you are given guidelines to follow while in the forest such as eating and drinking in front of animals is not allowed, don’t litter the park premises, avoiding making noise, keeping a distance from the chimps and many more. Trekking lasts for 5 hours but an hour will be allocated to you to spend in the presence of these beautiful creatures. After the experience head for lunch and then take a hike to the top of the world a hike that can take about 4 hours but is very rewarding. While on the summit spot the different crater lakes are on a straight and these are Lake Nyabikere, Nyinabulitwa and Nyamirima. Descend and head back to the lodge.

Day 4: Drive to Bwindi National Park via the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park

Leave Kibale National Park in the morning after a leisurely breakfast and head to Bwindi National Park via the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Passing in this savannah national park is amazing since you will encounter different wild animals such as lions, cheetahs, warthogs, and antelopes like the bush backs, Uganda kobs and many more. The rare tree-climbing lions will also be spotted while in this park. Reach Bwindi Nation Park and be welcomed with a glass of juice at the lodge booked.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking adventure

Have a wonderful day on this day 5 of your 25 days East African safari to gorillas and wildebeest migration as you head for briefing exercise after breakfast about gorilla trekking. This experience is amazing since you can know what you can follow while in the forest. These are; don’t feed wild animals, don’t use flashlight cameras, don’t make noise, always stay at one point in case you are threatened by the gorillas and many more. Penetrate the impenetrable forest to start the search which can even last for 8 hours but this includes an hour while in the presence of the gorilla family visited. After the overall experience, head to the lodge and leisure.

Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes national park

Head to Volcanoes national park home to rare species of primates and these are golden monkeys and gorillas. The journey will take about 6 hours’ drive but rewarding since you will be passing through Kigali city hence offering a great scenic view of different hills, a green environment, and hospitable people. Arrive and check-in at the accommodation facility and this will mark the end of the day.

Day 7:  Golden monkey trekking drive to Kigali and fly to Kilimanjaro International Airport, hotel in Arusha

Have a briefing after breakfast and then embark on the search for these rare primate species that can be found in the mountains. These primates (golden monkeys) are very lively, playful and funny making your visit most memorable. Trekking these primates doesn’t limit the number of trekkers like that of gorillas. An hour will be allocated to you and this will be a great time to take photos using a flashlight camera. After a great time, head back to the lodge for lunch and then transfer to Kigali internal Airport for your flight which will be followed by a pick at Kilimanjaro Airport in Tanzania. The representative will pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel.

Day 8: Drive to Ngorongoro conservation area and game drive

Following breakfast, head to Ngorongoro conservation areas known for the rhinos. This is also home to the big five, big cats, and spectacular views covered with crater lakes. In arriving, you will engage in the evening game where wild animals such as zebras, elephants, lions, leopards, warthogs, rhinos, wildebeests and many more. Later on, head to the lodge for a leisurely evening.

Day 9: Drive to Serengeti national park after a morning game drive

Leave the Ngorongoro craters after a morning game drive and transfer to Serengeti national park which is famous for its great wildebeest migration. It’s also great for wildlife viewing since it’s a wildlife hub. It has the largest number of predators which makes the experience more enjoyable during the game drive. Arrive and check-in at the accommodation facility

Day 10-11:  Exploring Serengeti national park (game drives)

During these two days, explore to the fullest Serengeti plains through game drives and you will explore different mammals such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, elephants, wildebeests, zebras, buffalos and many more. The birds won’t be missed too, butterflies, crocodiles and hippos in the Mara River.

Day 12:  Drive to Masai Mara

Drive to Masai Mara National reserve one of the unique and most attractive protected areas in East Africa homing the big five, big cats, and small primates and hosting the great migration of wildebeest. Masai Mara is also home to the Masai people one of the unique African cultures that are related to the Karamajongs of Uganda. Both are pastoralists, and dress stripped green and red lesu and with open shoes made from car tyres. Arrive and head to the lodge for a leisurely evening.

Day 13-14. Masai Mara exploration (game drives, visiting the Masai community)

Have a wonderful time during this amazing 2 days tour in Masai Mara. Take part in game drives which will introduce you to the beauty of Mara reserve which is covered with beautiful, wild animals and endless plains with different savannah trees. Animals that you will spot include lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo, Cheetah, Giraffe, Hippo, and Zebra among others. Picnic lunch will be the order of the day as you enjoy wild animals.

Also, take a visit to the community at the edge of Masai Mara national reserve which is great for the traditional music and dances, tasting the traditional foods, taking a community walk and visiting the Manyattas, participating in milking and many more.

Day 15: Transfer to Nairobi and fly back home
