3 DAYS DJIBOUTI LAKES AND NORTHERN TOUR.–

3 DAYS DJIBOUTI LAKES AND NORTHERN TOUR.
Known as French-Somaliland (1896-1967) and French Territory of Afars andIssas (1967-77), the nation gained its independence from France on 27 June 1977. The capital, Djibouti, is built atop coral reefs that protrude into the southern mouth of the Gulf. Other major towns are Obock, Tadjoura, Ali Sabieh, Arta, and Dikhil.

The country’s littoral character masks the country’s regional and geopolitical significance. Its capital is home to a state-of-the-art deepwater port, which handles traffic in the Indian Ocean and Red Sea and houses a French naval station. It is also the railway hub for the country’s only line, which serves neighboring Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa.

Besides Lake Assal, the other major inland body of water is Lake Abbe, located on Djibouti’s southwestern border with Ethiopia. The country is completely devoid of any permanent above-ground rivers, although some subterranean rivers exist.

Explore the whitewashed buildings of the old capital of Djibouti on this itinerary that combines the wonders of the Lakes with a trip to the oldest town in the country.

Day 1
After breakfast, we will drive to Lake Abbé via the Grand Bara Desert and Petit Barra Desert. After lunch in Dikhil, we’ll reach Lake Abbe where you’ll spend the night in the Tourist Camp. Here, you’ll be able to take in the beautiful view at sunset. The Tourist Camp is basically a settlement built of simple African huts.

Day 2
Get up early to see the sunrise at Lake Abbé, which is full of chimneys. On a walking tour to the lake, you will see nomads, flamingos, and hot springs. The geology is very interesting in this area. We will drive to Lake Assal, Africa’s lowest point. Along the way, we will visit Canyon Adaleh panoramic view and the panoramic view of Goubet. In Lake Assal, the large salt field makes you feel like you are walking in the middle of nowhere. The water is full of brilliant colors that change from time to time due to the sun reflecting off it. We will continue on until Tadjourah, where we will spend an overnight.

Day 3
Today we will be visiting the town of Tadjoura. Tadjoura is one of the oldest towns in the country and is renowned for its white washed buildings. After Tadjoura, we will proceed to the next stop of the tour, which is the town of Djibouti, where the tour will end.
