Explore the hidden gems of unrecognized Somaliland on this unique, first-of-its-kind adventure that combines the best of both worlds. Start your journey with a visit to Lake Abbé and Lake Assal in the capital, Hargeisa, followed by an overland excursion through remote areas in the western part of the country. This must-see tour is a must-do for anyone traveling in The horn of Africa.

Day 1
We will pick you from the airport, then we carry and drop your luggage at your hotel. Depending on the time of your arrival, you will have the opportunity to explore the bustling capital city of Djibouti.

Day 2
In the morning, we’ll take a drive to the lake abbé. Along the way, you’ll pass through the Grand Bara desert and the petit barra desert. You’ll spend the night at the Lake Abbé Camp, where you’ll be able to enjoy the spectacular view of the sunset. The camp is a settlement of traditional African huts, which are very basic in design.

Day 3
You will wake up early to see the sun rise. Lake Abbé is a picturesque place with many chimneys. On a walking tour to Lake Abbé, you will see nomads, flamingos and hot springs. We will then drive to Lake Assal, Africa’s lowest point. Along the way, you will enjoy panoramic views from Canyon Adalah and from the mouth of the Goubet.

Day 4
Djibouti’s oldest town is well-known for its white washed buildings. After a day of sightseeing in Tadjoura, we’ll head to plage de sables blancs where you’ll be able to relax while soaking up the sun on the white sand beach and sip on some drinks. We’ll then head to djibouti city for an overnight stay before heading to somaliland the following morning.

Day 5
Start your morning by embarking on a long journey to Looyada that lies on the border between Djibouti and Somaliland, During the journey, we travel through the semi-deserts of the Western part of the country until you reach Borama, the third largest city in Somaliland and home to the renowned Amoud University. Spend the night at Rays Hotel or similar accommodations.

Day 6
You’ll visit Borama and visit the market. On the way to Hargeisa, you’ll make a stop at the historic rock painting site of Dhagax Khoury, where you’ll see animal and human figures painted on various panels in a stunning landscape. We’ll also pass the small towns of Arabiya and Gebiley, which are renowned for their agriculture and traditional Somali culture. When you arrive at the capital of Hargeisa, we’ll take you to your hotel.

Day 7
Early in the morning, you will go to visit the livestock market in Hargeisa. Livestock production is the mainstay of the economy in the Republic of Somaliland. After the livestock market, you will visit the Civil War Memorial in Hargeisa and the Central Market in the city center. After a short break, you will be able to explore the bustling city center and get a feel for the people and atmosphere.

Day 8
We journey to Laas geel, one of Africa’s most significant rock art sites. The rich colors and well preserved frescoes are thought to be around 10,000 years old.

The drive continues until Berbera, where you’ll be picked up and taken to your accommodation at the beach. Here, you can relax on the sand and take a dip in the sea as the sun sets. The hotel also offers snorkeling and diving services, as well as a boat ride.

Day 9
After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to visit the historical town of Berbera. The old quarter of Berbera is particularly interesting due to its mix of Ottoman and British styles of architecture.

After Berbera, we will leave the town and make our way to the small mountain town of Sheikh. The drive through Sheikh will be a pleasant one due to the beautiful scenery and the pleasant weather. At the end of the day, we will be heading to the town of Hargeisa, passing through Sheikh Mountains.

Day 10
You are transferred to the Airport to board your flight back home carrying lifetime memories from somaliland and Djibouti.
