1 DAY DJIBOUTI WHALE SHARK TOUR.
The whale shark, also known as the gentle giant of the sea, is one of the largest sharks on the planet and one of the most benign. You can swim in the company of a whale shark anywhere in the world and it will be an experience you will never forget.
November to January is the time of year when the seabed is full of plankton and hundreds of whale sharks congregate on this stretch of coastline. On a boat ride from the capital to the Gulf of Djibouti, you will be accompanied by dolphins and cross the waters of the Gulf until you can see the shapes of the whale sharks. The first sight is a thrill, but it really kicks up the adrenaline if you dive between them with your mask and fins, nearly touching them.
Have you ever wanted to swim with a whale shark? If so, then you are in the right place. During the Whale Shark season in Djibouti (from October to February), you will have the chance to swim with the largest fish in the world.
Whale sharks feed almost exclusively on small fish and plankton, and do not pose a threat to humans. These giants will be available for swimming or snorkeling during this 1 Day Tour. Please note that all sea tours are conducted by certified diving schools and can be combined with our land tours in Djibouti.
Day 1
Start your journey from the hotel at 7:00 a.m. for a 5-minute drive to the port de Peche, where you’ll be met by a boat. On board, you’ll embark on a one-hour tour of the Red Sea, culminating in the best view of the “water giants.”
The starting point is from Fishing Point, in the town of Djibouti, where you will make your way to the coastal town of Ras Koral, where you will meet up with the WhaleSharks.
Swim and dive for 45 – 60 minutes with these giants. Lunch is served on board, while enjoying the sun and the beautiful ocean view and snorkeling/diving gear is provided, Spend the afternoon snorkeling in the sea with the chance to see and explore the pristine coral reefs. The warm, clear water is also perfect for diving on your own terms. The program ends at 17.00, to be back at the hotel to refresh and to get ready for dinner.
