This tour offers a hiking experience on two mountains in Kahuzi-Biega National Park: Mt. Kahuzi and Mt. Biega, which is where the park gets its name. There are two hikes, each taking about 3 to 4 hours.
Along the way, you will see primates, birds, butterflies, plants, and more. This tour also gives you a good chance to spot the lowland gorillas that live in this park.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Kahuzi-Biega National Park from Kigali
You will be welcomed by an expert guide who will brief you about the tour. Then you will start your journey to Kahuzi-Biega National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This park has two large mountains, Mt. Kahuzi and Mt. Biega, which are home to the rare eastern lowland gorillas. The drive takes about 7 hours, including crossing the Cyangugu border.
You will arrive late in the evening and have dinner.
Day 2: Hike Mt. Kahuzi & Mt. Biega
Prepare for a full day of hiking two inactive mountains. Each hike takes about 4 hours and offers great views. Mt. Kahuzi is 3,308 meters high, and Mt. Biega is 2,790 meters high.
During the hikes, you may see primates like vervet monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and many bird species.
You will hike once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Both hikes are rewarding.
Day 3: Return to Kigali & fly home
Travel back to Kigali through the Cyangugu border. When you arrive in the afternoon, enjoy a hot lunch at the hotel. Then you will be taken to the airport for your flight home. This marks the end of the tour.
