7 Days Congo Lowland Gorillas & Serengeti Wildlife Safari

The 7 Days Congo Lowland gorillas and Serengeti NP safari is a special combination of Eastern Lowland gorilla trekking and wildebeest migration experience. On this one-week African expedition, expect to explore 2 destinations – Kahuzi-Biega National Park for lowland gorilla encounter (D.R.C) and Serengeti National Park (Tanzania) for wildebeest migration.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali –city tour

Meet and greet our company representative at Kigali International Airport (KGL) and today will be for pick up and transfer to the hotel. In case of early arrival, you will have a chance to tour some of the historical sites within the city, especially the Gisozi genocide center and local markets where you can find fresh fruits.

Day 2: Pick up & transfer to Kahuzi-Biega N/Park for lowland gorilla trekking tour

After an early morning breakfast, you will set off for Kahuzi-Biega National Park which is found in the D.R. Congo. The 6000sq.km tropical forest-dominated Kahuzi-Biega is home to a section of the Eastern Lowland gorillas and other wildlife, birds and floral species. Driving time from Kigali to Kahuzi-Biega N. Park takes 6-7 hours’ drive with scenic view of the countryside.

Day 3: Go trek the Eastern lowland gorillas

Leave the lodge for briefing about lowland gorilla trekking at Kahuzi-Biega National Park offices. At 8:00 am, set off for an actual lowland gorilla trek with an experienced guide and this is likely to last for 2-6 hours inclusive of one hour of a close encounter and photography. Later, you will have a long evening at the lodge once you get back from the gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 4: Drive back to Kigali & fly to Arusha

Start the morning with a delicious breakfast and after, you will drive back to Kigali via Bukavu. Lunch will be enjoyed en route and upon arrival in Kigali, you will be dropped at the airport for an evening flight to Arusha.

Day 5: Arusha to Serengeti for wildebeest migration & big 5 game encounter

After a hot cup of tea/coffee, you will be picked up and transferred to Serengeti National Park located within the Northern tourism circuit of Tanzania. This is a rich wildlife-protected area in Tanzania and the best location to observe the wildebeest migration.

Day 6: Full day wildlife expedition in the Serengeti NP

Enjoy a heavy breakfast and later, exit the lodge for a long day wildlife excursion in the Serengeti National Park. This is a complete home to all the big 5 game –bush elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards, buffaloes; and wildebeest, gazelles, cheetahs, Kudus, waterbucks, and elands, etc. Today, lunch will be enjoyed in the wild and you continue with game viewing till late in the afternoon when you will get back for dinner.

Day 7: Depart Serengeti-Arusha

At the comfort of your wilderness lodge, enjoy breakfast, and after, set off for Arusha city. As you exit the park, more wildlife will be spotted and today brings the 7 Days Congo lowland gorillas and Serengeti NP safari to an end.
