Begin your five to six-hour journey to Congo after all your travel paperwork is checked. Enroute, you will stop at Nyanza Palace to learn more about Rwanda’s history and cultural offerings.
After clearance at the border crossing between Rwanda and Congo, you will then continue your drive to Bukavu city. As you will arrive at your lodge late in the day for dinner and a pleasant night stay.
Day 2: Lowland gorilla trekking
You will eat a substantial breakfast at dawn before heading to the park headquarters to register and receive a pre-trek briefing. Many people’s dreams of seeing lowland gorillas will come true. Only situated on the African continent, gorillas share 98% of their DNA with humans. The 30-minute pre-trekking session includes an explanation of the trekking dos and don’ts from the ranger guides. An hour to eight hours is spent trekking across the areas where the latest ape sightings occurred.
It’s a trip into the forest where there’s a chance to see other monkeys, birds, and other wildlife. Don’t forget to look for other kinds of forest plants, too. After finding the apes, you will have an hour to take pictures and get up close to see your cousins eat, play, and sing.
Eat lunch in the jungles, before coming back to the lodge for refreshments, dinner, and a well-deserved sleep.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali and fly to Kenya
Very early in the morning is when today begins. After a delectable breakfast, you will rise and depart the lodge for the 5-6 hours trip to Kigali, Rwanda. Ostriches, sunbirds, ground hornbills, secretary birds, flocks of crowned cranes, saddle-billed storks, Grey herons, great white egrets, Madagascar squacco, pygmy falcons, and other animals are among the things to keep an eye out for. The bird watching session will take place in the morning, followed by lunch.
After lunch, you will go on a rewarding cultural tour, visiting the Masai warriors where you will be entertained by traditional songs, watch the local manyattas, do the Jumping dance moves and more.
